As the saying goes "comparison is the thief of joy" and never before was it easier to compare than since social media arrived in our lives. I finished Perfections recently and really enjoyed how you have referenced it here to offer guidance on this particular situation and your advice on it - excellent literary match!
An exceptional post Emma. I deleted all social media 2.5 years ago and have never looked back…. I have had something similar to this person and I cannot imagine how picky woundy it would be to be on all that stuff seeing it unravel… you put it all beautifully… xx
Thanks so much Jessica! Very inspiring that you deleted all social media, powerful move! I haven’t got quite that far but I want to work toward using it much less.
only found you recently, but i’m always impressed with your columns and how seamless you are with bridging narrative aspects with your advice. i’m also impressed by how well you read into the subtext of the messages you receive (a mark of a good reader!). great work, a lovely balance of helpful and entertaining (:

I was right to stay away from Bookstagram then 😂
Haha 😜 I think everyone has a different relationship with this stuff… but I’ve got more out of substack, and found it less addictive! X
