Such powerful and wise advice, Emma - finding wonderful connections between Henry James & the domestic abuse charity's advice NOT to give advice to leave a bad relationship. It needs to come from the woman herself, just as Isabel needs to decide her own fate. Hope you all enjoy the wedding!

I so agree - no one will do anything until they are ready! Grace has to come in (not the person, the notion, if that’s the way to describe it!!).

That's very true. And when I mentioned my own experience in my answer, I think the comment my friend made came at a time at which I was ready to hear it. Any sooner and it normally doesn't sink in.

Indeed. It’s about divine timing (maybe that is a better way to describe the word ‘grace’). It reminds me of getting sober (I work in addictions and am sober myself) - no one will clean up until the moment they are ready! Now can we think of some literature for that!? For me it always harks back to Hamlet who sadly was never ready….

I absolutely love your work and how you tie in literature to modern life. It’s exactly what I am trying to do with my work as a therapist and writer. Thanks for all the effort you put in. Enjoy the wedding xx
